Bridge Q-Day (April 8, 2019)
Dear Bridge Team,
Thank you for actively being part of our very first Bridge Q-Day! Q-Days are the moments we set aside after every quarter to refocus on our mission, celebrate wins, highlight key initiatives, and enjoy as a team.
Here are some highlights from last Monday’s event:
Thank you for sharing your answers with each other. We were so encouraged from the feedback we received.
Back to Why
We kicked things off by going back to Bridge’s why, which is our shared goal to Make Work-Life Better. We believe that work, as it currently is, drastically needs to be improved, and that the way to do this is to improve productivity and access. Our People Solutions team partners with HR to improve worker productivity while our Access team improves worker financial security. This is why we want to serve more workers. Every worker who joins the Bridge ecosystem (either through People Solutions or Access) is one more person able to improve his or her work productivity and access to financial services. Along with the rest of the Bridge leadership, we want to thank you for serving with us.
Your Why
We also took a moment to share our own WHYs. We asked, “Why did you join Bridge?” and “Why do you work at Bridge?” It’s important to have a clear answer to this because it’s a reminder that Bridge is not for mercenaries (people simply looking for money) but for missionaries (people who are activated by wanting to make work-life better). I hope this discussion helped reinforce that we are not like most companies. Our Mission is immensely important. Your work, your contribution to the mission, no matter how unsexy you might think it is, is significant. Here’s a brief contrast of mercenaries vs. missionaries:
| Mercenary | Missionary |
| Motivated by personal gain | Motivated by mission importance |
| Hungry to take | Hungry to transform |
| Commitment is based on contract | Commitment is based on love |
Practicing What We Preach: Giving Ourselves Access
An important part of Making Work-Life Better for us is to bring better access to products and services that improve financial security. You’ve heard me to talk about too many people spend the whole careers working for stuff but never achieve security. We want all Bridge employees to achieve financial security. One of the most important habits to develop in order to do this is consistently saving. This is why we launched the Smart Savings capability on the Bridge Access app. Now, employees are able to automate their savings through payroll-deducted contributions. It’s the smart path to financial security. We have automated our spending by subscribing to things like Netflix, Spotify, and other memberships. We need to subscribe to savings. I’m glad to say that nearly all Bridge team members have done the smart thing with automated savings. While savings rates are dropping all around the world, people in Bridge are going against the trend and preparing for the future.
Mobile Legends Time!!!
We held our first E-Games at the office, kicking things off with a company-wide Mobile Legends tournament! This turned-out to be a lot of fun! Some memorable players include:
